To Focus Properly

To FOCUS PROPERLY

I Spent Much of My Time
Thinking My Parents Were Right
Most of The Time

Everything Said by My Teachers,
My Relatives,
People I Knew to Be Older,
And, At One Time People in General.
I Was Much TOO Gullible
I Didn’t Think for Myself
And, Believed Everything I Heard
I Had an Awful Lot to Learn,
I Thought!

The Years Have Gone By
And My Eagle Has Died
That's When I Began To Open My Eyes
I Finally Could See I Was Living Their Lies

I Realized Being Paralyzed
By My Fears
Was My Way of Life
 Free Movement of any Sort
Was Becoming Uncommon
There Were Many Things That
Weren’t Necessarily So
That Didn’t Involve
Living in a Whale
Or Being Called Jonah
I Learned the Importance of Unlearning
I Learned You Could Strike with the Cover Open
At Times

Some of it did Hold Water
And, Some Still Does
But, There Are Things That Should Have Been Sent
To the Preposterous Department
Many Years Ago.
Like Removal of Certain Tags on Furniture
That Will Result in Immediate Imprisonment,
That People in Authority Were Always Honest,
The Easter Bunny & Santa Make Their Way to My House
Once A Year,
And, I Could Go to Hell for
Practically Anything!

I Realized Good Judgment &
Knowing Thyself
Were Actually Good Things to Do
Everything Has Come Into question
At One Time or Another.

I’m Feeling Much Better Now
And It’s Almost Lunchtime
I Have That Going for me
And, I Guess, Other Things, TOO,
When It Comes Right Down to It!
